“Use your time and ability to help others.”
“One of the things I appreciate most about my middle and upper school education was that Kent Place nurtured a mindfulness of the opportunities available to us and encouraged us to help those less fortunate. Kent Place fostered a culture of helping others through diverse community service opportunities and guest speakers that provided me with perspectives different than my own. Those transformative experiences laid the foundation for me to pursue a career in social entrepreneurship.
“I work on a consulting team in San Francisco that specializes in impact investing: We help our clients make financial investments that also have a positive social or environmental impact, such as creating jobs or increasing access to healthy food in low-income areas. One of my favorite parts of the job is talking with and learning about the people and communities we serve. Understanding their lifestyle, values, goals, and barriers is crucial to developing an investment strategy that will effectively benefit them. My job is both challenging and fulfilling, and I love going to the office everyday knowing that I’m using my education for social good.
“While Kent Place provided me with the skills necessary for business, it also played an integral role in cultivating the soft skills needed for success in my job, including empathy, inclusivity, and respect. Most importantly, Kent Place instilled in me that we should always be kind human beings to each other.”
