"Push yourself out of your comfort zone."
“In the summer of 2012, I was contacted by a headhunter about a position at Guggenheim Securities, which wanted to build an equity capital markets (ECM) practice and was looking to hire someone to spearhead the effort. At the time, I was part of a 65-person ECM team at Deutsche Bank. I was unsure that I was qualified for the job but pushed myself to learn more. After the first set of interviews, I knew it was an awesome opportunity, but I didn’t think I’d get the job. Within a few months, I joined Guggenheim as their first employee in the ECM group and have been tackling obstacles, facing new challenges and living outside of my comfort zone ever since!
“I encourage you to push yourself out of your comfort zone and to try new things. You will be surprised how much more prepared you are for the unknown than you realize. And remember, if you are only focusing on things you are already good at doing, you are not learning."
