“Advice to my younger self.”
“It seems strange to be writing words of wisdom. Wisdom comes from people who have done it all and been recognized for some achievement that sets them apart from all of us ordinary people. That said, I feel I’m far enough along in life to understand the important things.

“Over the past 15 years, I’ve been a SCUBA instructor in Bermuda and worked for a family business in Pennsylvania, and now I lead a sales team for the premier outdoor shade manufacturer in the world. I’m married to a wonderful man and have a son who is the biggest reward and simultaneously the biggest challenge. (Being a mom is HARD. Don’t fool yourself, as I did. If you’re a mom, stay strong.)

“My advice to my younger self:

“No, you don’t know it all, but you have good instincts. Trust them.

“Get back up. You’ll have hard times, times tough enough to break you. They’ll blindside you and your entire perspective will change. Your grit will determine your success. Just don’t stop.

“Build your network. Your friends will lead you places you didn’t know you needed to go but you’ll be happy you did.
“You are your best asset. Ask for what you deserve, and you deserve more.

“Feel gratitude. Seriously, be thankful. You’re the lucky one.

“I can look back and see how my all-girls education enhanced the core of my character. The confidence I built in the Middle and Upper School has carried me through the hardest times and given me opportunities to live the life I choose. I have a strong foundation with an amazing family. For me, right now, that’s success.”
