“Be bold when seeking opportunities.”
“An important lesson Kent Place taught me was to be bold and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities and people around you. I have applied this to my time at Dartmouth by taking advantage of the college’s D-Plan, in which I took classes during the summer in order to spend my winter interning off campus. I worked with Citigroup Capital Markets in the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) group, and I was fortunate enough to intern with them again this summer.
“During my time at Citi, I valued how capital markets sits in between investment banking and sales & trading, providing me with exposure to both areas. I also loved the energy of the open-style capital markets floor and my group’s market-facing focus. I took advantage of and appreciated all the opportunities around me: I toured the New York Stock Exchange, sat in on a client luncheon at Citi Private Bank and met with various people across the different divisions. I made an effort to network with as many women as possible, who very much reminded me of the strong role models I had at Kent Place, and who were so willing to connect with me just because I reached out. Don’t hesitate to put yourself out there and capitalize on the opportunities that surround you.”
