Ethics in Action: STEM for Humanity

The mission of the Ethics in Action: STEM for Humanity program is to explore the intersection of technological and scientific advancements and the ethical challenges that arise along with this new frontier. Participants will broaden their insight into the struggles of a differently-abled population, through interaction, collaboration, research, and dive into and utilize a Human-Centered Design Process.

This two-week program will partner with institutions including Princeton University, and utilize the KPS Makerspace to learn new skills and create something original while focusing on Human-Centered Design, and the relationship between need and invention while promoting the use of an ethical lens/approach to the world.

This program will allow students to:

  • Visit the Princeton University StudioLab
  • Develop Ethical data collection, analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Enhance STEM literacy
  • Explore the intersection of STEM and ethics through ethical engineering
  • Present original product to experts
  • Focus on the hands-on, Human-Centered Design Experience
  • Enhance collaboration, communication, and presentation skills
  • Develop a robust and empathetic understanding of people living with disabilities
