Transportation

Girls travel to Kent Place from 80 communities throughout northern and central New Jersey. Some families opt to drive students to Kent Place every day or develop carpools with other parents. Many Middle and Upper School students use public transportation to come to school, including the New Jersey Transit trains. Kent Place provides a shuttle from the Summit station to the campus. Several other transportation options are available and are used by a large portion of our students.

Transportation Options

List of 4 items.

  • Public Transportation

NJ Transit Train: The Summit Train Station services NJ Transit commuter trains from Penn Station NYC, Hoboken, Dover and Peapack/Gladstone lines.

Train Station Shuttle Service: KPS provides a shuttle bus service that transports students to and from the Summit Train Station each morning at 7:45 a.m. and 7:55 a.m., and each afternoon at 3:40 p.m. Students must register for this free service. A late Train Station Shuttle Service transports students from KPS to the Summit Train Station at 6:00 p.m. daily. Registered train riders may use this service daily or as needed. This service is open to students in Grades 6-12.

NJ Transit Bus: Some students also come to Summit by way of the #70 NJ Transit Bus. This bus runs from Newark/Irvington and travels through the towns of Irvington, Maplewood, Millburn and Springfield. The bus has a stop directly in front of our campus.
  • Private School Busing

For students who do not have access to public/district school busing or public transportation, KPS has arranged for private bus companies to provide fee-based busing services for some areas. These areas include:

    Essex County: Montclair, Livingston
    Bergen County: Wyckoff
    Morris County: Parsippany
Union County: Plainfield, Westfield, Mountainside, New Providence, Berkeley Heights
Somerset County: Far Hills, Bernardsville, Basking Ridge

This list is subject to change and modification each year depending on demand. Please contact the KPS transportation department at ext. 244 for more information.
  • Public/District Busing

Several school districts in surrounding towns provide transportation service to resident KPS students.

These districts include: Chatham, Convent Station, Florham Park, Hanover Park, Harding/New Vernon, Madison, Millburn/Short Hills, Morristown, Morris Township, and South Orange/Maplewood.

Students must register for public district school bus service by completing the B6T form and submitting it to KPS. Contact the KPS transportation department at ext. 244 for more information.
  • District Reimbursement

Many school districts opt to provide reimbursement for resident students attending private schools in lieu of providing transportation service. The reimbursement is limited to students who live at least 2 miles (PS) or 2.5 miles (MS & US) but not more than 20 miles from KPS. The maximum reimbursement is approximately $884 per student, and this is paid directly to you by your town. The money is available whether a student uses a KPS bus, public transportation or is driven to school. These districts include Boonton, Caldwell, Cranford, Denville, East Hanover, Essex Fells, Florham Park, Glen Ridge, Hanover Park, Jersey City, Kenilworth, Little Falls, Livingston, Mendham, Millburn, Montclair, Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Newark, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Randolph, Rockaway, Union, West Caldwell, West Morris, West Orange and Whippany. Some districts do not provide transportation or reimbursement for their public school students. As a result, private school students from these districts are not offered either option: Bloomfield, East Orange, Irvington, New Providence, Nutley, Orange and Summit. Students must register for reimbursement.Contact the KPS transportation department at ext. 244 for more information.
