Upper School Performing Arts Presents "Little Women"

Upper School Performing Arts Presents "Little Women"

The Upper School’s production of Little Women — by Kate Hamill, from the novel by Louisa May Alcott — will take place in the Hyde & Watson Theater for four performances, on February 20, 21, and 22. The production tells the timeless story of the four March sisters in a captivating, fresh adaptation filled with personal discovery, heartache, hope, and love.

“I play the role of Meg March,” says Maya Lalani ’25. “Some of the traditional aspects of her character are getting married, having children, and adhering to societal expectations for women, but her ambition and desire to grow as a person speak to me and I connected to her.”

“I’m so grateful and excited to be playing Jo March,” says Hannah Kelley ’26. “I admire her confidence, ambition, and willingness to be herself despite the constraints of society at the time. And I love the final scene of the production, because although it’s heartbreaking, it’s also the moment when everyone comes together and puts aside their differences, testament to their love for one another.”

Maya agrees: “My favorite scene is also the last one. I’m excited for the audience to join into it emotionally with us. Also, our set is absolutely gorgeous, and I can’t wait for the audience to see it!”

Directed by Keri Lesnik P ’27, Middle and Upper School theater teacher, the show will feature two casts — each with a matinee and an evening performance. Showtimes are Thursday, February 20, at 5:00 p.m.; Friday, February 21, at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, February 22, at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m.
