Swinging into Spring: Dragons Build Momentum on the Diamond

Swinging into Spring: Dragons Build Momentum on the Diamond

Though the first pitch of the season was only recently thrown, an electric charge has already taken hold of the Kent Place softball program. From the dugouts to the diamond, there’s a drive that’s proving to be infectious. Leading are six returning seniors, whose experience is laying a solid foundation for the season and carving a clear pathway for the program’s future.

The Dragon spirit has been consistent from day one of the preseason. Whether facing biting winds, chilly temperatures, or grueling extra innings, the teams’ camaraderie remains front and center. This unity was on full display during the JV’s victory against Lawrenceville, when the varsity squad stayed late to cheer on their teammates from the stands.

The coaching staff is prioritizing player development and a “team-first” philosophy; they’ve instilled a no-fear approach that has our athletes consistently stepping up to the plate with confidence. The hard work in the cages is paying off where it counts: The team is finding a rhythm at the plate — 60 percent of the varsity roster is currently batting .500 or higher.

With stats like this one and a culture of mutual support, the Dragons are just getting started. Keep an eye on this program — it’s going to be a season to remember!

We’re thrilled to welcome back our veteran coaching staff, along with some exciting transitions:

  • Jacklyn Torres, Head Varsity
  • Melissa Semidey, Assistant Varsity
  • Alex Luna, Head JV
  • Arianna Colon, JV Assistant

Come and support the Dragons at upcoming home games:

  • Varsity vs. Oak Knoll, April 1 at 4:00 p.m.

  • JV vs. Union, April 15 at 4:00 p.m.
