Middle School Athletics Concludes Exciting Fall Season
The fall season for our Middle School athletes has come to a close. In the first trimester, Kent Place offers cross country, field hockey, soccer, and tennis at the Middle School level. Participation was high across all sports, with many returning players as well as students trying something new. This year, all of our Middle School teams participated in postseason play, organized by the Middle School Athletic Conference (MSAC).
From the start, the Dragons produced exciting performances and thrilling results. Let’s take a look back at the teams’ successful showing.
On the very first day of the season, tennis took three out of five courts over a top team.
In MSAC soccer tournament play, Kent Place beat a higher-seeded team in a tense penalty-kick shootout. Fionna Dangler ’29, goalie, had a standout performance: She shut out the opposing team in regular time and made the save on the final penalty kick to send the Dragons to the semifinals.
Cross country concluded its season with the Pumpkin Run, in which Rae Sharma ’29 finished sixth out of a field of 122 runners. “One of the best things about cross country is that when you put in the effort, you get to reap the results,” says Rae. “There's nothing more fulfilling than finishing a long, hard run and thinking to yourself, ‘I did that.’ I really enjoy all the practices and meets we have together as a team, and the way we came together. We had great coaches, Ms. Emmel and Ms. Crowe, and feel prepared and excited to move up to Upper School athletics.”
Field hockey’s impressive regular season earned the team the top seed in the MSAC tournament. In the semifinals, the Dragons earned a 1-0 victory, sending them to the MSAC final.
The Middle School season was capped by an awards ceremony, during which all the athletes were recognized in front of their peers. Among the accolades were for sportsmanship, seasonal growth, and outstanding performances.
We’re so proud of all of our student-athletes. Be sure to check out our winter calendar to cheer on basketball, swimming, and volleyball.
