“Our Middle and Upper School Ethics Bowl teams have entered their intensive training. These very talented ethics students are hard at work to maintain their respective championship titles,” says Karen Rezach, Director of the Ethics Institute at Kent Place. “Even though it's challenging work, it's also a lot of fun. The chance to compete and discuss ethics at the highest levels is a highlight of the year, and I look forward to bringing home another championship for our school!”

The National High School Ethics Bowl, sponsored by the Parr Center for Ethics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is an annual competition in which teams of students from all over the country participate first in regional competitions and then, if they qualify, on the national level. Kent Place is the New Jersey champion and ranked fourth in the nation during the 2022 High School Ethics Bowl.

The Middle School Ethics Bowl is organized and hosted by Kent Place. As the founding institution, the Ethics Institute also runs the National Committee, which planned other regional events this year, in Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, and North Carolina. During the competition, teams of students collaboratively and rigorously analyze and discuss both timeless and timely ethical dilemmas. The unique structure of the event and the cases, which are written by Middle School students and teachers, encourage ethical discussion at an age-appropriate level. Kent Place brought home the championship in 2022.

The New Jersey–New York Regional High School Ethics Bowl is on February 4; the Middle School New Jersey–New York Regional Ethics Bowl is on February 25. To learn more about the tournaments (including volunteering at one of the events), please visit the Ethics Institute at Kent Place.

Best of luck to both of our teams!
