Here is a recap of a successful Spring 2025 season for Dragon Athletics.
Kent Place to Break Ground on Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts
Kent Place School is excited to announce plans to break ground on the Leadership Center for Athletics, Wellness, and Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to ensuring that every girl can grow as a leader in her own way. Construction will begin in June and is expected to take 18 months to finish.
Academics and athletics, performance and wellness, leadership and ethics — these vital aspects of a Kent Place education are deeply connected. The Leadership Center, which has been thoughtfully designed and will be sustainably built, unites them under one roof, providing students with a dynamic environment in which to grow, compete, create, and lead, and will inspire collaboration, innovation, and school spirit.
Highlights of the New Building
- Athletics facilities will reflect the strength and ambition of our program, with a regulation-sized competition gymnasium (adjacent to the current Field House) with space for 200 spectators, along with an indoor track, locker rooms, and a fitness center. These new spaces will foster even more of the teamwork, discipline, and strategic thinking that characterize KPS athletes.
- The performing arts will take center stage, with a theater seating more than 425. Performing arts facilities will also contain a dance studio, a scene shop, dressing rooms, and storage areas. This means more students will have the opportunity to build the confidence that comes from realizing a creative vision.
- Wellness programs will have space to thrive with multiple wellness areas, from a teaching kitchen to a yoga studio. These spaces will emphasize the importance of mental and physical health, so every student can achieve her full potential.
As a hub for a variety of programming, including the nationally recognized Ethics Institute, the Leadership Center will be a community gathering place. From guest speakers and conferences to performances, athletic competitions, and alumnae events, the building will enable families, staff and faculty, alumnae, and friends of the school to come together to learn and celebrate.
Says Head of School Jennifer Galambos, “The Leadership Center will be transformative for our community. It will broaden our opportunities for student development and further distinguish our school as a place where girls grow into leaders of all kinds and styles. The most effective leaders draw on a wide variety of experiences and skills. The Leadership Center will provide a holistic approach to bringing out the very best in our girls and young women.”
