Kent Place Theater Students Premiere Play by Jacqueline Pothier ’18 at Edinburgh Fringe Festival

A cohort of Upper School theater students traveled to Scotland to perform an original play during the 2026 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The Fringe, which takes place every August, celebrates art of every genre.

Sin-Eaters is by Kent Place alumna Jacqueline Pothier ’18, a Brooklyn-based playwright and 2026 graduate of New York University’s Department of Dramatic Writing MFA program. Performances are August 7, 9, 10, and 11 in the Great Hall at Nicolson Square Venues, and have a run-time of 1 hour 15 minutes. Sin-Eaters is a dark comedy that explores guilt, grief, and girlhood. The St. Anne’s County Debutante Class of 2000 has been struck with a plague of lice, and the girls decide to revive the ancient ritual of “sin-eating” to cleanse them of their misdeeds before their presentation to society. Instead, they uncover secrets about one another and themselves that will rock the foundation of their friendships forever.

The play is directed by Upper School theater teacher Keri Lesnik, with original music by Middle and Upper School choral teacher Neil Ginsberg. Supporting them is Director of Performing Arts Edel Thomas.
