Kent Place Tennis Serves Up Back-to-Back Tournament Victories

Kent Place Tennis continues its winning streak! The Varsity team earned its 11th-consecutive Union County Tournament title on September 18 at the Donald Van Blake Tennis Center, sharing the championship with neighboring Oak Knoll.

The Dragons delivered strong performances on all five courts. Third singles Addie Brugg ’29 and first doubles Mira Lalani ’27 and Eva Pascarella ’29 were crowned champions. Second doubles Angie Ge ’28 and Emma Xu ’30 finished in second place; first and second singles, Morgan Glover ’29 and Sophie Bremm ’28, respectively, each took third, securing crucial points toward the team title.

“We’re so happy with everyone’s level of play, and everyone deserved this win. It was a team effort on all fronts, and it feels good to continue our winning streak at this tournament. We couldn’t have done it without Coach Dave and Coach Bettina, who kept us strong through the toughest moments,” said Varsity Captains Mira and Sophie.

Both Varsity and Junior Varsity remain undefeated for the season.

On the following day, JV continued the Dragons’ winning ways at Pingry, with a tie for the championship at the second-annual Big Blue JV Invitational. The victory marked the team’s second-consecutive title.

At first doubles, Siya Sharma ’29 and Sehar Saluja ’29 earned valuable points for the team throughout the day, as did Harper Corbin ’29 and Sadie Sfarra ’30 at second doubles. At third doubles, Attie Ouyang ’29 and Sydney Chen ’28 took first place; Aviana Rao ’29 and Allison Ha ’27, at fourth doubles, also took first. Sophia McDaniel ’30 and Estelle Chen ’30 rounded out the team’s strong performance with a second-place finish at fifth doubles.

“We came back stronger in the second half of the tournament, persevered, and became co-champions. We’re proud of the overall results and excited to see our team dominating the courts,” said JV Captains Allie, Lizzie, and Sydney.

Congratulations to both teams, and go Dragons!
