Dragons Return to Squash Nationals

Kent Place recently competed at the 2026 U.S. High School Team Squash Championships. Held February 20–22 at the Arlen Specter US Squash Center in Philadelphia, the event saw more than 1,700 of the nation’s top athletes participating. Kent Place was one of 95 girls teams present, competing in Division 2 — that is, among the top 32 programs in the United States.

The Dragons delivered a commanding performance throughout the weekend, winning three of their four matches and finishing ninth in the division; their only loss was to Bronxville, who eventually earned fourth place.

This dominance culminated in a thrilling victory in the 1st Consolation Final, a win that officially cements Kent Place as a Top 25 team in the nation.

The Dragons’ journey to the top began three years ago. In 2024 — the team’s national debut — Kent Place entered Division 5 ranked #14, battling through to the Consolation Finals. In 2025, the team returned to Division 5 with a #4 ranking and reached the main round semifinals.

Varsity Co-Head Coaches Katharine MacCornack and Geoff Mitchell attribute the team’s sustained success to consistency and perseverance. “Everyone played well, worked hard, and put pressure on their opponents,” they say. “That was true throughout our time at Nationals and all season long.”

Representing the Dragons at Nationals were Julianna Abrantes ’26 (co-captain), Chelsea Chen ’28, Phoebe Krowitz ’26, Cori McNutt ’27, Charlotte Poole ’29, Chloe Poole ’27, Gaby Robakidze ’28, Talia Sarafian ’26, and Ayushi Wadhwa ’27 (co-captain).

Congratulations to all, and go Dragons!
