Kent Place Lacrosse Earns Top Honors: Addison Quinn ’28 Is NJ.com Player of the Year and Dragons Named Team of the Year

The Kent Place Lacrosse program reached new heights this spring, earning historic recognition from NJ.com after a championship season that showcased the talent, determination, and teamwork of the Dragons.

Sophomore midfielder and draw specialist Addison Quinn was named the NJ.com Girls Lacrosse Player of the Year; Kent Place was recognized as the NJ.com Girls Lacrosse Team of the Year. The honors follow a landmark season in which the Dragons captured the first Non-Public state championship in program history, defeating longtime rival Oak Knoll 8–7 in the title game.

Throughout the season, Addison emerged as one of the state’s most skilled players, making her presence felt both on offense and at the draw. She finished the season with 62 goals, 87 points, and 254 draw controls, helping Kent Place gain possession and control the pace of critical moments.

In the state championship game, Addison delivered when the Dragons needed it most. With the score close late in the game, she created an opportunity and scored a key goal.

“I’m beyond grateful to receive Player of the Year,” says Addison. “This recognition means so much to me because it reflects not only my growth as a player, but also the people who helped me get here. Watching my sisters, Emma Claire ’24 and Caitlyn ’26, compete before me showed me what hard work, resilience, and love for the game look like. My family has taught me the importance of gratitude and making the most of every opportunity.”

The Dragons’ Team of the Year reflects a season built on resilience and belief. After falling just short in the state semifinals the year before, the team returned with renewed focus, strong leadership, and a commitment to building a championship culture.

Kent Place opened the season with confidence, navigating a challenging schedule against some of the state’s strongest programs. The Dragons’ combination of returning players and emerging talent helped them make a historic postseason run.

In the Non-Public playoffs, Kent Place battled through every round before facing Oak Knoll in the championship game. The Dragons held their ground through a back-and-forth contest, ultimately earning the program’s first state title. They ended the season as the No. 1 team in the state.

“This is the most remarkable team I’ve had the opportunity to coach at Kent Place, and I’m humbled by the girls’ commitment to excellence — setting a standard and expecting more from each other every time they took the field,” says Varsity Coach Ashley Quinn P ’24 ’26 ’28 (and Addison’s mom). “They played for a common goal, never for personal gain or the outcome, never taking anything for granted.” 

“As my mom often reminded our team,” Addison says, “we stand on the shoulders of the giants who came before us and build on the foundation they created,” she says. “Although this award has my name on it, it reflects the incredible team that challenged me, supported me, and inspired me every day. What I'll remember most about this season are my teammates I got to share it with.”

Says Coach Quinn: “This team earned a place in school history as the first ever to win not only a state championship, but also a prep championship, and is now the gold standard. For this, I’m eternally proud and grateful!”
