Kent Place Community Comes Together to Celebrate the Season

Kent Place welcomed families, students, faculty, and staff to campus on the evening of December 3 for its beloved Celebrate the Season event — an annual gathering that brings the community together in the spirit of tradition and holiday cheer.

Guests arrived to the sounds of festive music and warmed up with cups of hot chocolate, setting a cozy tone for the evening. Outdoors, Head of School Jennifer Galambos led one of the school’s traditional holiday ceremonies, counting down to the lighting of the Hanukkah menorah, the Christmas tree, and the Kwanzaa kinara.

The celebration continued indoors in the Great Room, where attendees enjoyed an array of seasonal activities. A lively photo booth captured smiles, for example, and craft stations provided everything needed to design holiday cards. One of the most popular traditions — the gingerbread house contest — drew crowds as teams proudly displayed their creative and colorful constructions.

Student emcee Vivienne Vengroff ’27 then introduced the entertainment. The KP Singers and Chamber Singers performed a combined set of beautiful seasonal pieces, followed by a spirited performance from the Hummingbirds. Four students — Sunny Lawrence ’36, Vivienne Segal ’32, Aza Bugg-Levine ’35, and Catherine Colgan ’33 — took the stage to explain their cherished holiday traditions.

To close the program, Jaime Levine P ’28 introduced the gingerbread house judges, who then announced this year’s winners to excited applause.

Thank you to event chairs Wendy Berg P ’30, Marta Colgan P ’33, and Jaime Levine P ’28, to Karley Mackler, Executive Assistant to the Head of School, and to all who contributed to the event’s success.

The holiday lights will keep the campus aglow while the community looks forward to upcoming winter traditions, such as the 102nd year of STAR, which will take place in the Field House on December 18.
