Finishing Strong: Dragons Deliver an Unforgettable Spring

Kent Place student-athletes capped off the 2025–2026 school year with an exceptional spring season — from state titles and conference championships to individual achievements that rewrote the record books. Here’s a look back at some of the highlights.

Varsity Lacrosse had a historic season, winning the NJSIAA Non-Public State Championship and the NJISAA Prep A Tournament. The team also finished as regular-season champions of the Stars and Stripes White Division. The Dragons ended up being ranked the Number 1 team in New Jersey by NJ.com.

Varsity Flag Football saw its first class of players graduate: Allison Ameo ’26, Claire Cherill ’26, Cecília Hirawat ’26, and Juliette Maria ’26. Avery Delaney ’27 finished at the top of the Big Central Conference for yards with 2,190. Priya Patel ’27 finished second in the Big Central Conference for receiving yards with 834.

Varsity Golf continued its success. For the second year in a row, the team won the Union County Tournament. Erin Kim ’27 and Annette Hickey ’27 made the first team for the Essex/Union Conference.

Varsity Softball reached its first-ever NJISAA final after taking down two higher-seeded teams. Pitcher Emma Geppel ’26 reached a career milestone of 300 strikeouts. The team closed out the season winning eight of their last 11 games.

Varsity Track had a standout showing in all events. Evangeline Tezel ’27 qualified for the Meet of Champions in the 3200. Summer Rae Sharma ’29 qualified for the New Balance Nationals in the 800 and the 1600. Summer Rae broke the Kent Place record in the 800m with a time of 2:17.48.
