Dragon Athletics Spring Recap

Dragon Athletics Spring Recap

In spring, Kent Place offers flag football (varsity), golf (varsity), lacrosse (Middle School and varsity), softball (Middle School and varsity), fundamentals of volleyball (Middle School), and track (Middle School and varsity).

The Varsity Flag Football team improved again in its third season, picking up five wins. The team participated in the Gatorade Girls Flag Series at the New Jersey Jets practice facility, where they won 34-6. Sophomore quarterback Avery Delaney was named Player of the Week and will be featured at a Jets preseason game in the fall.

Varsity Golf continued its success. The team won the regular season Essex/Union league title, going 7-1 in the division, and also won the Union County, and three players finished among the top 10.

The Varsity Lacrosse team topped the Stars and Stripes White Division with a record of 5-0. The team made it to the Union County semifinal, the Prep Tournament final, and the State Tournament semifinal.

Varsity Softball competed in the Mountain Division, moving up from the Valley Division in previous years. The team had three players batting over .300 and showed improved consistency on the mound with a more balanced pitching rotation. Several freshmen gained valuable varsity experience, contributing to the team’s depth. With a solid core returning, the team is well positioned for a strong bounce-back in 2026.

Varsity Track competed hard at the Union County Conference meet, and distance runners and sprinters took home medals. Olivia Hand ’25, Ananya Mehta ’27, and Isla Naik ’26 finished 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the 3200M. Emma Shannon ’27 hurdled to 1st place in the 400m hurdles. In Middle School Track, Rae Sharma ’29 took 2nd place at the Middle School Athletic Conference Championships in the 1600M.

Congratulations to all of our spring athletes on another outstanding showing!
