A Look Back at the Dragons’ Historic Winter Season

A Look Back at the Dragons’ Historic Winter Season

The Kent Place Upper School Dragons completed a dramatic season filled with personal achievements and epic team wins in the pool and on the ice, the court, the strip, and the track.

Varsity Fencing had another exciting year. The Sabre team ranked second at the Santelli Tournament. In Epee, London Higgins ’28 competed at the NJSIAA Fencing Individual State Championships. Riley Crook ’27, Lineysha Goel ’29, and Maanika Nanda ’29 all qualified for the NJSIAA Fencing Individual State Championships in Sabre.

Varsity Squash went to its third Squash Nationals, winning three of four matches and finishing ninth in Division II. With their amazing performance, our athletes earned the rank of 25th in the country.

The basketball program had a monumental winter. The varsity team picked up 12 wins, its most since 2018–2019. JV Basketball was victorious in 10 games — including a nine-game streak — and earned a first-round Union County Tournament win.

Varsity Swim had another great season, finishing third in the Union County Tournament — shy of second place by only one point. The team also had multiple qualifications for the Meet of Champions: in the 200 Medley Relay, the 200 Individual Medley, the 200 Freestyle Relay, the 100 Breaststroke, and the 400 Freestyle Relay.

Varsity Track put up some impressive results at the NJISAA Prep A Championship. The team had eight top-10 finishes across sprinting, distance, relay, and jumping events, and earned an outstanding 36 points as a team at the event.

Varsity Ice Hockey made it to the NJSIAA tournament semifinal for the first time in school history! Senior Captain Molly Brozowski was named NJ.com Girls Hockey Player of the Year, which added to her already sterling résumé.
