Dragons Ready to Take on Spring Season

Dragons Ready to Take on Spring Season

The warm weather means our athletes return to the outdoors, this season for flag football (varsity), golf (varsity), lacrosse (Middle School, JV, and varsity), softball (Middle School and varsity), and track (Middle School and varsity).

This season teams will compete in league play, tournaments, and NJISAA and NJSIAA championships. Last year softball went undefeated in divisional play to win the Union County Sky Division. Quinn Sartorius ’26 led the team in hits with 33 in 72 at bats, for a .458 batting average. Emma Geppel ’26 was the strikeout leader, with 75 in 56.2 innings. As a result of the team’s fine performance, the girls have moved up and will play in the Valley Division.

Flag football enters its second season at Kent Place and its first in an NJSIAA pilot program. Following the completion of the two-year pilot, the NJISAA will vote on whether to make flag football an officially sanctioned sport. The team welcomes back Juliette Maria ’26, who last year led the players in sacks.

We welcome back athletes who look to build off their incredible 2023 seasons. Senior Lacrosse Captain Emma Claire Quinn ’24 had 49 goals and 50 assists and was named First Team Non-Public State. This fall, Emma Claire competed on the U18 Women’s Lacrosse National Team at the Fall Classic, in Sparks, Maryland. Caitlyn Quinn ’26 led the lacrosse team in scoring with 51 goals.

Taylor Sieg ’24 returns to the golf course for her senior year after finishing sixth in the Tournament of Champions in 2023. Taylor was named to the Second Team All-State. The golf team went undefeated in conference matches last spring and the athletes would love to repeat their impressive showing.

Our spring track athletes hope to improve their personal bests. Last spring, senior captains Alyma Karbownik ’24 and Angelica Nwachuku ’24 ran personal bests in the 100m, 200m, and 400m. Addison McGoey ’24 achieved a personal best in the Meet of Champions this winter and would like to improve on that in her final season at Kent Place.
