Freshman and JV State Meet, Too

Linda Flanagan
Our ordinarily connected and unified team split into two yesterday, with Varsity girls racing at Blair and JV and a handful of freshman girls racing at Thompson Park in Jamesburg, NJ. With Coach Watkins as their guide, most of these girls faced their final competition of the year on a course jammed with NJ runners.
In the freshman event, Clara Schreibman ran her best race of the season, finishing 26th in a time of 23:40. Nice, Clara, and way to win a medal! Emily Shewchuk followed, running 31:33 and finishing 77th. In the JV race, Selena Liu finished 166th, running 28:35 for her second fastest time of the year. After Selena came Sara Wheatley, who ran 28:53 (despite chronic shin pain) and finished 171st. Kayla Kim followed, running 29:15 in 174th place. Anniken Pedersen came after, running 31:46 and finishing 184th.
Girls, it was a spectacular day to end your season. Keep training—especially during the summer—and next year aim for varsity!
