MIDDLE SCHOOL DRAGONS OF THE WEEK
May 6, 2019
Cami Lienhardt and Sophia Miller
Our MS Lacrosse Dragons of the Week are brought to you with a heavy heart. Both Cami Lienhardt and Sophia Miller, two of our most valuable players, suffered season-ending knee injuries this week and there are no words to adequately describe how much our team will miss having these players on the field. Sophia is a midfielder whose speed, endurance and stick skills make her a critical factor behind our undefeated season. Cami, who happens to be another midfielder, currently leads the team in goals and ground balls, and is central to our ability to control the draws. More importantly, Sophia and Cami are leaders in helping the team stay focused on winning while still enjoying each other and having fun. Sophia and Cami - we will miss you on the field but are relieved to know you'll be cheering for us on the sidelines!
Molly Daab, Sophia Brandstaedter and Lily Tan
The Middle School Track and Field team are proud to announce this week's Dragons of the Week as Molly Daab, Sophia Brandstaedter and Lily Tan. Molly Daab has found her stride in the long jump event. Each day she strives to improve her approach and take off form. She is always asking questions and takes the coaching cues and puts them into action immediately. She jumped a personal best on Monday against Green Brook with a jump of 12’11”. She also led the way in the 400 M with a 1:11.9 and is part of our speedy relay team that posted a 56.4. We look forward to seeing Molly continue to make her mark on the track as well as in the field events. Sophia Brandstaedter comes to practice each day ready for a challenge. She methodically goes through the practice working on the little things that will help her to be successful. The little things paid off on Monday in our meet against Green Brook where she threw a personal best in both the shot put - 21’11” and Discus - 33’3”. Her work ethic is exemplary and is great role model to her teammates. We look forward to seeing Sophia leave her mark on the field as well as the track. Lily Tan returned to the track on Monday for our meet against Green Brook. She has been caring for an injury and being the diligent athlete that she is, she bounced back quickly and gained a personal best in the 800M without going full tilt. Lily has the ability to work hard, help out where needed and cheer her teammates on during every event. She is always striving to be her best and encourages her teammates to do the same. We look forward to seeing Lily finish the season strong and make a few more personal bests before it ends. Congratulations Dragon TrackStars!
UPPER SCHOOL DRAGONS OF THE WEEK
May 6, 2019
This week’s Dragon of the Week for Varsity Lacrosse is Liz Cotter. Liz is a quick footed defender that has improved her 1 v 1 skills tremendously throughout the season. She is a strong leader for her team and communicates effectively, especially on the field. Liz is a valued team member that always puts her team before her own needs. She’s dedicated, committed and inspires those around her to work harder. Most importantly, Liz does it all with a positive attitude and a smile on her face! Congratulations Liz!
Sophia Paris and CC Wolf
Tri-Captain Sophia Paris and freshman CC Wolf have earned Dragon of the Week distinctions for JV Lacrosse. Sophia has brought loads of charisma to the field with her positive, lighthearted attitude. Demonstrating strong stick skills, Sophia has been focusing on strengthening her technical aspect of the game. As a result, whether calling for crashes, slides, switches, or pressuring high, Sophia has lead the defense through effective communication. CC has been the hardest worker since day one of tryouts. She lead the pack in just about every coniditioning drill and since then she has been pushing her teammates to work hard at every practice. She has demonstrated such leadership in the midfield and on defense, controlling the draw and picking up crucial ground balls. Congratulations, Sophia and CC!
Zoe plays multiple roles on the varsity softball team. As just a sophomore, she is a starting outfielder as well as a pitcher that the coaching staff relies on to come in for strategic reasons. Zoe’s charismatic and positive energy is a pleasure for her teammates to have around. Zoe continues to work hard every game and practice and is vital to our success this season. She is and will be a leader on this team for the next few years to come!
Adaora has become a great asset to the team in the outfield. Adaora made two great catches in left field at our away game against Elizabeth. The coaches agree that it has been a pleasure to watch Adoara advance her skills and knowledge of softball. Congratulations!
V Spring Track
Grace Morris, Kaira Brown, Josie Daab, and Christiana Nwachuku
This week's Dragons of the week for track are Grace Morris, Kaira Brown, Josie Daab, and Christiana Nwachuku. These four girls formed the 4x400 meter relay that beat the number one team in the county this week, Union Catholic. They also broke the school record last week at the biggest relay meet in the world, Penn Relays, running a time of 3:58.33 and winning their heat to bring home a plaque. These girls ran with heart and determination at both of these meets, and their coaches and teammates couldn't be proud. Congratulations, ladies!
