The Importance of Philanthropy
Creating and sustaining a vibrant culture of philanthropy is at the forefront of all independent schools’ strategic goals. A strong culture of philanthropy is one in which constituents talk openly about giving and have a solid understanding of why they should give. Kent Place Fund participation speaks volumes to the impact of a KPS education, and sends a message of commitment to the school and its mission to empower girls to be confident, intellectual, and ethical leaders who advance the world.
Unrestricted gifts to the Kent Place Fund are essential to the school’s financial health. The school’s operating budget depends on these additional dollars to maintain our academic strength, teaching excellence, student financial support, new initiatives and signature programs, and the maintenance of our buildings and grounds. The Kent Place Fund gives the school the financial foundation it needs to fulfill its mission.
Throughout the year you will receive communications (including mail, email and sporadic text messages) about the Kent Place Fund, asking you to make a gift. Parent Class Agents, who are parent volunteers from your grade, will also reach out to you throughout the year reminding you about the Kent Place Fund and how important your participation is. The earlier you make a commitment, the less frequently you will be contacted.

FOUNDERS DAY
Mark your calendars! Kent Place School’s annual Founders Day on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, is a one-day-only celebration of all of the things that make Kent Place so special. This annual day-of-giving fundraiser gives the entire KPS community an opportunity to show their collective support for the school and its mission to Empower Girls and Advance the World.
The 2024 event was a record-breaking success and goals for the upcoming event will be announced. Multiple communications will be sent to prepare for Founders Day and spirited activities will take place in the morning, on campus during school drop off. The success of this effort rests not in the size of gifts, but in the number of Kent Place community members participating in support of our distinguished history of educating girls and young women. We hope to receive community-wide participation on Wednesday, March 5 – gifts of any size matter and make an impact!
VOLUNTEERING: GIFTS OF TIME AND TREASURE
Parent volunteers are vital to enriching your family’s experience at an independent school. The benefits to the school are obvious, but lending your time and talent allows you to meet other parents to share experiences and gain deeper insights into the lives of your children and their classmates, as well as fostering professional connections and personal friendships. In addition, volunteering at Kent Place lets you really get to know Kent Place; who the staff and volunteer leaders are, why the school does what it does, and how the mission is carried out. Perhaps most important, volunteering is a commitment to and interest in your child’s daily life.
Volunteers are an integral part of Kent Places’s advancement efforts, providing an avenue for engaged participation within our school’s community. Volunteers are advocates and ambassadors for the school and its mission. Please join us to continue to build an extraordinary community here at Kent Place!
