The Ethics Institute at Kent Place School was founded in May of 2007 with the approval of the Kent Place Board of Trustees. Dr. Karen Rezach’s successful Middle School ethics elective was the source of inspiration for establishing this unique institute. Early programs included Parent Ethics 101 workshops, as well as faculty workshops available in all three school divisions.
In September of 2007, the EIKPS Advisory Board was created and a 5-year strategic plan was formulated. At this time, the EIKPS mission and vision statement was established. Soon after, partnerships were forged with The Hastings Center, Atlantic Health System and most recently The Kennedy Institute of Ethics at Georgetown University.
Within the KPS community, the ethics curriculum was expanded. Currently, there are two Middle School ethics elective courses. Ethics is also incorporated in the Middle and Upper School Health and Wellness courses and advising programs. Additionally, Seniors participate in a mandatory Ethics Seminar.
The Ethics Institute at Kent Place School also offers a range of summer enrichment programs including Ethical Leadership and Entrepreneurship, Please browse our website for more information about all of these innovative programs.
