Our student-centered program creatively integrates music literacy with vocal and instrumental training to cultivate inspiring performances at every level. Our dynamic faculty foster the development of musical and artistic skills — not to mention appreciation — for all students.
Our choral ensembles foster excellent singing skills and perform regularly both on campus and in the greater Metropolitan area. We also participate in international choral festivals as an optional summer experience.
The extensive opportunities available for music at Kent Place have allowed me to pursue creativity and have offered a platform for me to connect with friends and share my artistic expression with the community.
Evelyne, UPPER SCHOOL
Our instrumental program has a range of opportunities that develop both instrumental and ensemble skills for all musicians. The sense of community among all the players is thrilling to experience. In collaboration with the Orchestra Director, excellent teachers — many of whom are performing artists in their own right — work with all students in small sectional rehearsals, assisting with technical instrumental skills. The performance repertoire, chosen to meet the students’ needs, is diverse and exciting.
The signature Upper School winter music concert, which has been a tradition since 1924, brings together the voices of every Upper School student in a moving performance. Alumnae return to campus to participate.
Each trimester, the Middle School holds a performing arts showcase to highlight music, dance, and theater for families and the school community. Similar performances are held in the Primary and Upper Schools.
An annual tradition held during Grandparents and Special Friends Day, the Thanksgiving Assembly highlights choral, instrumental, and dance performances. A crowd favorite is the Preschool Bell Ringers!
Our orchestra and vocalists thrill us with a repertoire spanning the ages and genres. Spreading the joy of music-making, students share their love of music and even take a chance at conducting.
The last day before Winter Break, we are treated to a spirited vocal and instrumental performance by our Primary School students.
