NJ Transit Train: The Summit Train Station services NJ Transit commuter trains from Penn Station NYC, Hoboken, Dover, and Peapack/Gladstone lines.

Train Station Shuttle Service: KPS provides a shuttle bus service that transports students to and from the Summit Train Station each morning at 7:45-7:50 a.m., 8:00-8:05 a.m., and 8:10-8:15 a.m., and each afternoon at 3:45 p.m. Students must register for this free service. Registered train riders may use this service daily or as needed. This service is open to students in Grades 6-12.

NJ Transit Bus: Some students also come to Summit by way of the #70 NJ Transit Bus. This bus runs from Newark/Irvington and travels through the towns of Irvington, Maplewood, Millburn, and Springfield. The bus has a stop directly in front of our campus.

Several school districts in surrounding towns provide transportation services to resident KPS students OR aid in lieu. Decisions about district provided transportation are made on an annual basis by the student’s resident district.

Some of the districts included are Chatham, Convent Station, Florham Park, and Madison, among others in the surrounding area.

Students must register for public district school bus service by completing the B6T form and submitting it to KPS. Contact the KPS Transportation Department at ext. 231 for more information.

For students who do not have access to public/district school busing or public transportation, KPS has arranged for private bus companies to provide fee-based busing services for some areas. These areas include:

Bergen County: Fair Lawn
Essex County: Livingston, Maplewood, Montclair, Newark, South Orange
Union County: Mountainside, Westfield 

This list is subject to change and modification each year depending on demand. KPS-managed transportation is a service and not part of an enrollment contract. We cannot guarantee route stops from year to year. Please contact the KPS Transportation Department at ext. 231 for more information.

Many school districts opt to provide reimbursement for resident students attending private schools in lieu of providing transportation service. The reimbursement is limited to students in Grades K–12 who live at least 2 miles (Primary School) or 2.5 miles (Middle and Upper Schools) but not more than 20 miles from KPS.  Families may be eligible for reimbursement of up to approximately $1,177 per student, which is paid directly to you by your town.

The reimbursement is available regardless of whether a student takes a KPS bus, uses public transportation, or is driven to school. These districts include but are not limited to Boonton, Caldwell, Cranford, Denville, East Hanover, Essex Fells, Florham Park, Glen Ridge, Hanover Park, Jersey City, Kenilworth, Little Falls, Livingston, Mendham, Millburn, Montclair, Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Newark, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Randolph, Rockaway, Union, West Caldwell, West Morris, West Orange and Whippany.

The following towns do not currently offer aid-in-lieu of transportation: Bloomfield, East Orange, Irvington, New Providence, Nutley, Orange, and Summit, with additional towns potentially included.
