There are many opportunities to explore Kent Place School's programs. Throughout the fall, we schedule a number of open houses and information sessions, which enable prospective families to learn more about our school and tour the campus. As part of the application process, we arrange a meeting for every applicant and parent. After submitting the Application for Admission, you will have access to schedule these meetings. 

Your initial step in applying to Kent Place School is to complete the Application for Admission. Kent Place begins accepting applications on September 1 for the following academic year.

Kent Place’s entry points are Junior Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 6, and Grade 9. The school considers applications for other grade levels as space permits.

• December 17 is the deadline to submit the Application for Admission for consideration in Round 1. 
• January 16 is the deadline for families submitting the financial aid application
• January 16 is the deadline for receipt of all supporting documents
• January 16 is the deadline for completion of all student and parent visits

Note: Applicants who have completed all admission requirements by January 16 will be given first consideration by the Admission Committee. Applications completed after January 16 will be reviewed as space permits.
 

Kent Place notifies families of admission decisions for first-round applicants in late February/early March.

By September 1 of the year a child will begin attending, a Junior Pre-Kindergarten applicant must be 3 years old, a Pre-Kindergarten applicant must be 4 years old, and a Kindergarten applicant must be 5 years old.

• Applicants for Junior Pre-K participate in a playgroup appointment. 
• Applicants to Pre-K through Grade 1 will complete an academic readiness assessment with Kim Clary, Director of Primary School Admission.  
• Applicants for Grade 2 to Grade 5 will take the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). 
• Applicants for Grades 6–11 are required to take the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) or the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam). Advance registration for these tests is required. For registration information, refer to ssat.org or iseetest.org.
   

No. Because we don’t make decisions based solely on test scores, we don’t have a test-score minimum. In making decisions, we look at all parts of the application as we seek to understand each applicant as a student and a person.

Yes, if applying for financial aid, we can offer a fee waiver code for testing. Any member of the Admission Team will be happy to provide more details. 

Applicants may submit one or two supplementary materials, such as artwork, a recital recording, or a recommendation from a coach or mentor for review, though it is not required and does not increase an applicant's chance of admission. If you would like to share supplementary work, please email it to admission@kentplace.org.

You may monitor the status of your application materials through the Kent Place application portal. You can use the same login and password you used to create your account and to submit the application.  

Because of the limited number of openings, some qualified applicants may be placed in our wait pool. The students in our wait pool are not ranked; the group is reconsidered if a spot becomes available. If a student is placed in the wait pool and is not accepted by the start of school in September, she may reapply for the following school year. Please contact the Admission Office to reapply.
