  • Q: How do I arrange a visit to KPS? Do you have open houses?

There are many opportunities to explore Kent Place School's programs. We schedule a number of open houses and information sessions throughout the year, which allow prospective families to learn more about our school and tour the campus.  This year all of our events will be held virtually. As part of the application process, we arrange a meeting for every applicant and parent. After submitting the Application for Admission, the Admission Office will contact you to schedule these meetings which this year will be held via Zoom.
  • Q: When should I apply? How do I start the process of applying?

Your initial step in applying to Kent Place School is to complete the Application for Admission. Kent Place begins accepting applications on September 1 for the following school year.
  • Q: What grade levels have openings?

Kent Place’s entry points are Junior Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, Grade 6 and Grade 9. Kent Place also considers applications for other grade levels as space permits.
  • Q: What are your deadlines?

    • January 10 is the deadline for receipt of the first round Application for Admission.
    • February 1 is the deadline for receipt of all supporting documents.
    • February 1 is the deadline for completion of all student and parent visits.
Please Note: Applicants who have completed all admission requirements by February 1 will be given first consideration by the Admission Committee. Applications completed after February 1 will be reviewed as space permits.
  • Q: When will I be notified?

Kent Place notifies families of admission decisions for first round applicants in late February/early March.
  • Q: What is the age cut-off for Junior Pre-Kindergarten, Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten?

By September 1 of the year that a child will begin attending, a Junior Pre-Kindergarten applicant must be 3 years old, a Pre-Kindergarten applicant must be 4 years old, and a Kindergarten applicant must be 5 years old.
  • Q: What tests/entrance examinations are required?

    • Applicants for Pre-K through Grade 5 will receive information about scheduling their virtual assessment after submitting the Application for Admission.
    • For students applying to grades 6-11 for the 2021-22 academic year, Kent Place School will adopt a test optional policy for the SSAT/ISEE.  Our decision is a result of the challenges associated with testing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.  By February 1st, students applying to grades 6-11 will have the option to submit one of the following:
           a) test scores from the SSAT or ISEE
                or
           b) a graded humanities-based writing assignment and a graded math assessment from this academic year. (Please scan and send to admission@kentplace.org)
Regardless of the option that you choose, please know that we will fairly assess each student's application.  Our application review process is comprehensive and holistic, and the entirety of the student's application is considered in context.
  • Q: What if my child is placed in the wait pool?

Because of our limited number of openings, some qualified applicants may be placed in our wait pool. The students in our wait pool are not ranked; the group is reconsidered if a spot becomes available. If a student is placed in the wait pool and is not accepted by the start of school in September, they are invited to reapply for the following school year. Contact the Admission Office to reapply.
