Kent Place’s young authors collaborated in a weeklong celebration to showcase their original writing and improve reading, interpersonal, and oral-presentation skills — all while building community. Students from Junior Pre-Kindergarten (JPK) through Grade Five paired up to read, listen, discuss their inspiration and how they went about the actual writing, and learn from each other during this annual event.
On April 27, eighth-graders traveled to Washington, D.C., for an overnight trip as their next step toward becoming ethical leaders. The itinerary was organized by Alicia Rodriguez, Economics and Financial Literacy Coordinator and Middle School math teacher, to ensure that students would experience the nation’s capital through a lens of ethics, learn how historical leaders leaned on their ethical values when making decisions, and understand the advantages of tradeoffs — that is, giving up one thing in return for another, or making a compromise.
The third floor of the Middle School has been transformed into workshops, and sixth-graders are becoming entrepreneurs as they prepare for the annual TREP$ Marketplace. The market will open to the Kent Place community for shopping in the Field House on May 11, 2:30–4:00 p.m.

The Welsh Scholarship is open to young women who demonstrate financial need, who are permanent residents of Summit, NJ, and who currently attend or have graduated from one of these Summit high schools. It is available to students who will either enter college this fall, are currently enrolled as undergraduates, or who have completed an undergraduate degree and are seeking assistance for graduate or professional study.
For the first time since 2019, global learning trips have resumed, and two groups of students and their faculty chaperones traveled overseas for a weeklong adventure during Spring Break.
Kent Place second-graders have been studying the people, animals, and geographies of our world’s continents — as they are today and from many years ago — as part of their science and social studies curricula, and this week they went on an exciting field trip that would bring their lessons to life. Equipped with their backpacks, notebooks, and adventurous spirits, the girls visited the Museum of Natural History, in New York City.
