| While all Upper Schoolers
can study drama at an advanced level, every year one
or two especially dedicated students earn the privilege
of completing an independent study. A senior's
independent study in playwriting offered her the perfect
outlet for combining her talent for writing with her
love of drama. |

The product of a year’s worth
of writing, revising and reworking for production on
stage, The Incomparable Imogene Fairbanks tells
the story of Alice Howard, a desperate young writer
who passes off a novel as the true-life memoirs of a
Boston heiress. The student worked closely with drama teacher
Bob Pridham, who advised the project and directed the
play, and several of her peers, who brought the roles
she created to life on stage. She did everything
a professional playwright would do, watching the script
in performance and making adjustments as needed. |
