On Tuesday, November 13, 2007, noted psychologist and motivational speaker, Dr. Victoria Beech, spoke to Kent Place parents. The event was sponsored by the Kent Place Parent Networking Committee and was part of their year-long theme on “helping your child develop coping skills.” Dr. Beech, who works extensively with adults and families so they can have happier and more fulfilling lives, provided an interactive discussion on learning how to let your child face challenges, learn and succeed in life. The presentation titled, “Parenting Means, Letting Go” took place in the Commons Room, Mabie House from 12:00 to 2:30 p.m. Lunch was provided in the Commons Room, Mabie House from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m. and the discussion followed from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Noted Parent Networking Co-Chairs Ana DeMeo, Benita Norrmen-Smith, Michelle Vaters and Susan Fountain, “We were pleased with Dr. Beech's visit and thrilled to have had the opportunity to discuss how we can improve communication with our children and build the trust necessary to let them manage on their own.
