Ethics Institute Presents Free Lecture on February 10 - Chris Lowney
The Ethics Institute at Kent Place School will present best-selling author and renowned speaker Chris Lowney on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at 7:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the new Academic Center on the Kent Place campus. His talk, “Heroic Living: Discover Your Purpose and Change the World,” is free and open to the public.

Kent Place Named Among Nation's Leading Green Power Purchasers
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that Kent Place is on the new Top 20 K-12 Schools List of the largest green power purchasers among primary and secondary schools. Kent Place purchases more than 1 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually from Community Energy, which is enough to meet 69 percent of the school's overall purchased electricity use.

Fourth Grade Teacher Susan Mascioli Named 2009 Non-Public Teacher of the Year by NJ CAPE
Fourth grade teacher Susan Mascioli has been named New Jersey’s 2009 Nonpublic School Teacher of the Year by the Council for American Private Education (NJ CAPE). She was honored by the New Jersey Department of Education at a ceremony in Trenton in October.

Middle School Participates in Live Math Competition - Sixth Grade Ranks 21st in Nation!
Kent Place students in grades six through eight participated in The American Math Challenge’s live competition. The weeklong, 24 hour, event allowed students aged 9-14 to compete in real-time against others from around the world in mental arithmetic challenges of speed and skill. The activity allowed them to develop their math skills and explore other challenging areas including data analysis and graphing, and number theory.

Kent Place Students Recognized by College Board for Advanced Placement Examination Achievement
Seventy-four Kent Place seniors and recent alumnae were honored by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations taken last spring.

KPS Global Service Learning Initiative Fundraiser Raised Over $12,000
On Saturday, November 21 Kent Place held a photography exhibit and sale to support the students’ Global Service Learning Initiative. Photos of Kenyan landscapes, animals and people, from their spring 2009 trip were on display. All photos, taken by students and faculty, were enlarged, matted and framed and made available for purchase. The school raised more than $12,000.

Upper School Presented Fall Play, Catholic School Girls, by Award-Winning Playwright Casey Kurtti
On Thursday and Friday, November 12 and 13, the Kent Place School Drama Department presented the Upper School fall play “Catholic School Girls,” a warm-hearted hit comedy of growing up Catholic in the sixties, by award-winning playwright Casey Kurtti. The play was performed in one act, without intermission, at the Hyde and Watson Theater on the school’s Summit campus.

KPS Varsity Tennis Team Wins Non-Public Sectional State Championship
The Kent Place Varsity Tennis team defeated perennial powers Immaculate Heart Academy and Pingry to win the Non-Public North Section - A State Championship. It is Kent Place's first Sectional Championship in varsity tennis.

School Community Holds Annual Global Perspectives Day
Kent Place celebrated its seventh annual Global Perspectives Day. The day began with traditional morning meetings and discussion before breaking for performances, presentations, and small group sessions.

Kent Place School Begins Year with Convocation Tradition
Tuesday, September 8 marked the opening day of school at Kent Place. The morning began with the traditional Convocation ceremony in which the school gathers to celebrate its history and traditions, reflects on the school’s mission and purpose, and honors the spirit of community. Each person received a single daisy, the school flower, as they joined the gathering in the school’s Field House.

At the Eighth Grade Celebration on June 5, 2009, members from the Class of 2013 received the following distinctions, which were awarded for earning a 95 average for the year in a particular course.
