Sonia Manzano Shines at 14th Annual Speakers Series
The 14th annual Speakers Series lecture at Kent Place School featured Sonia Manzano, actress and Emmy Award-winning writer from Sesame Street. The presentation, titled “Reaching for the Stars” took place on Thursday, April 24. Sonia presented a lecture followed by a brief question & answer session.

Kent Place Holds Fifth Annual Global Perspectives Day
On Tuesday, March 4, the Kent Place Middle and Upper School celebrated its fifth annual Global Perspectives Day with the theme, “Though Many We are One.” The day began with a special assembly featuring Luanne Zurlo, founder and executive director of Worldfund, an organization whose goal is to minimize the education gap in Latin America by investing in high quality and outcome-driven school and programs that serve impoverished children.

At this event, held on Tuesday, April 1, attendees will learn about diversity initiatives at Kent Place School and gain information regarding the school's commitment to hiring a diverse faculty. Participants will hear from school community members.

Beverly Jeanne Welsh Scholarship Applications Available for Summit Young Women
Applications for the Beverly Jeanne Welsh Scholarship Fund will be available through the guidance offices at Kent Place School, Oak Knoll School and Summit High School beginning Tuesday, March 25. The Welsh Scholarship is open to young women who demonstrate financial need, who are permanent residents of Summit, NJ, and who currently attend or have graduated from one of these Summit high schools.

KPS Upper School Presented Winter Play - The Witchcraft at Salem Village
On February 29 and March 1, the Kent Place Upper School presented their winter play The Witchcraft at Salem Village to a sold out crowd of parents, students, faculty and community members. Witchcraft was directed by Chair of the Drama Department, Robert Pridham.

Kent Place Middle School Science Expo Showcases Creativity and Innovation
Kent Place teachers and parents spent the evening of February 26 observing the research science projects submitted by 138 Middle School students. The Expo, held in the school’s Field House, featured a poster board set-up, a format frequently used at international scientific conferences.

NY Liberty Head Coach and General Manager Speak to Middle School Students
On Wednesday, February 27, NY Liberty General Manager Carol Blazejowski and Head Coach Patty Coyle visited Kent Place to speak to the Middle School. Ms. Blazejowski and Ms. Coyle shared their career experiences and spoke to the students about opportunities for girls and women in the field of sports and chasing your dreams. After a question and answer session, the seventh and eighth grade basketball teams participated in a basketball clinic run by the coaches.

Kent Place Upper School art students will exhibit their artwork at the Bernardsville Library beginning Saturday, March 1, 2008.

"The STAR" Rings in the Holiday Season
The Annual Star holiday program took place on Thursday evening, December 20 with a wonderful selection of holiday, classical and traditional songs.

KPS Receives Gold and Silver Awards by the CASE Accolades Awards Program
The Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), the leading organization of college and independent school communications and development professionals, recently honored Kent Place School in the CASE District II Accolades Awards program, which recognizes excellence in alumni, communications and fundraising programs.

KPS Students and Faculty Attend Diversity Conferences
Six students attended the Student Diversity Leadership Conference and three faculty members attended the People of Color Conference in Boston, MA, November 29 through December 1.

Three Kent Place Seniors Sign Letters of Intent
Three Kent Place seniors have signed letters of commitment for lacrosse at Division I schools. Elaine Welch and Cassie Speno will play for Pennsylvania State and Laurel Van Tassel will play for the University of Vermont.

Sportsmanship does matter! Congratulations to the entire Kent Place athletic community for winning the 2006-2007 NJSIAA Sportsmanship Banner Award.

Five Kent Place School seniors have been named Edward J. Bloustein Distinguished Scholars by the State of New Jersey.

Kent Place Ranks High in Wall Street Journal Study
The Wall Street Journal recently placed Kent Place School on a list of top high schools with a remarkable record of sending their students to “highly selective” colleges. Kent Place ranked 15th in the country.
