Upper School Admission Information
Kent Place Voices

Ninety-nine percent of girls’ school alumnae felt more or equally prepared to interact with faculty compared with their peers who attended co-ed schools (National Coalition of Girls’ Schools survey, 2005).

Ninth grade is the most common entry point into Upper School, because Kent Place adds another section at this grade level. However, we also review applications for grades 10 and 11 as space permits.

All Upper School applicants are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). More information about testing dates as well as other requirements, such as a student questionnaire, teacher recommendations, transcripts, and campus visits, is explained below and in the application packet.

Admission Procedures for Upper School
After submitting your application with the $70 application fee, call the Admission Office to arrange a campus visit and interview. Applicants for grades 9-12 are required to visit and tour the campus. During the visit, an interview with an admission officer will be scheduled. Parents also will have an opportunity to tour the school and meet with an admission officer on the day of their daughter’s visit.

Arrange for the applicant to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT). Advance registration for this test is required. The SSAT is offered at Kent Place and several area schools throughout the fall and winter. Kent Place will administer the SSAT to Middle and Upper School applicants on the following Saturdays:

Saturday, October 13, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 8:30 a.m.

Complete the Transcript Release Form and give it to the applicant’s present school after the 1 st marking period. The form authorizes the school to send a copy of the applicant’s official transcript directly to Kent Place. Ask current English and math teachers to complete the Teacher Recommendation Form. If the same faculty member teaches both of these subjects, please ask a current science or social studies teacher to submit the second recommendation. The applicant must complete the Student Questionnaire and return it to the Admission Office by February 1.
