Girls travel to Kent Place from 70
communities throughout northern and central New Jersey. Some families opt to drive students to Kent Place every day or develop carpools with other parents. However, several other transportation options are available and are used by a large portion of our students:
Public Transportation
NJ Transit - The Summit Train Station services NJ Transit commuter trains from the Hoboken, Dover and Peapack/Gladstone lines.
Train Station Shuttle Service - KPS provides a shuttle bus service that transports to and from the Summit train station each morning at 7:45, 7:53 and 8:01 a.m. and afternoon at 3:10 and 3:20 p.m. Students have to register for this free service.
Public Bus - Some students also come to Summit by way of the #70 NJ Transit Bus.
This bus runs from Newark/Irvington and travels through the towns
of Irvington, Maplewood, Millburn and Springfield. The bus has a stop directly in front of our campus.
KPS Busing
Essex County - KPS provides a private bus for students from this area to get to and from school. The pick-up and drop-off location is centrally located at the Montclair Art Museum in Montclair, NJ. The bus departs the museum each morning at 7:2o a.m., arriving at school by 8:00 a.m. In the afternoon, the bus departs KPS at 3:30 p.m. and arrives back at the museum at approximately 4:00 p.m.
Bergen County - Beginning in 2010-2011, Kent Place will be providing a private bus for students from this area. The pick-up and drop-off locations will be centrally located. Please check back for more information.
Students have to register for this free service.
District Busing
There are a number of school districts in our surrounding towns that provide transportation service to resident KPS students. These districts include: Chatham, Convent Station, Florham Park, Hanover Park, Harding/New Vernon, Madison, Millburn/Short Hills, Morristown, Morris Township, South Orange/Maplewood.
District Reimbursement
Many school districts opt to provide reimbursement for resident students attending private schools in lieu of providing transportation service. The reimbursement is limited to students who live at least 2.5 miles but not more than 20 miles from KPS. The maximum reimbursement is approximately $880 per student and this is paid directly to you by your town. The money is available whether a student uses a KPS bus, public transportation or is driven to school. These districts include: Boonton, Caldwell, Cranford, Denville, East Hanover, Essex Fells, Florham Park, Glen Ridge, Hanover Park, Jersey City, Kenilworth, Little Falls, Livingston, Mendham, Millburn, Montclair, Morris Plains, Mountain Lakes, Newark, North Caldwell, Parsippany, Randolph, Rockaway, Union, West Caldwell, West Morris, West Orange, Whippany.
Some districts do not provide transportation or reimbursement for their public school students. As a result, private school students from these districts are not offered either option: Bloomfield, East Orange, Irvington, New Providence, Nutley, Orange, Summit.
