I would say that student-centeredness
is our most important quality. Everything here is done with the students’
best interests in mind. And
we get to know the girls well because we see them in many different settings:
the classroom, athletics, advisory,
after-school activities, arts performances,
extra help.
I want my students to feel totally empowered in the classroom. My aim is to help them become independent learners who rely not on me, but on themselves. They are not just learning material: they are learning how to learn, to approach a problem and work through it.
There is no doubt that this is an academically challenging program. But girls also experience a huge comfort level here. We trust them, we don’t hover over them, we respect their voices. We provide a safe environment in which they experience a sense of freedom and accomplishment.
