| Main Building Kent Place School was founded in 1894 on the former summer estate of New York State Chancellor James Kent. Our Tudor-style Main Building was constructed as a school in 1913. Today it houses the Upper School as well as a number of administrative offices, including the Admission Office and the Office of the Head of School. Most mornings, Upper Schoolers can be found gathering on the main staircase for their Morning Meeting. |

They are also favorite meeting spots for groups of girls throughout the course of the day. Artwork by KPS girls graces the walls, both here and throughout all of our buildings. |

| Upper School Class Lounge Class lounges, a longstanding tradition in the Upper School, offer a haven from the hectic pace of the day and build a sense of community among class members. Girls gather here at the beginning and end of the day, during free periods, and for class meetings. Their own decorations and a class mascot add a sense of fun and personality. |

| Upper School History Classroom In Upper School classes, the work is rigorous, but the learning process is spirited and collaborative. Desks are typically arranged in circles rather than in rows, which promotes participation by every student. Since each incoming ninth-grader at Kent Place is equipped with a laptop of her own, technology can be integrated seamlessly for instruction, research, and notetaking. |

| Memory Garden The Memory Garden, a collection of benches surrounded by flowering plants and trees, comes alive with activity during warm-weather months. Teachers occasionally move their classes here for discussion, singing groups perform here, and students gather on the benches for lunch, quiet study, or small group work. These benches are given in memory of KPS alumnae or as class gifts to the school. |

But their favorite part is getting dessert from the frozen yogurt machine! Girls also can grab a snack during break times throughout the day. | Primary School Science Classroom The Primary School science room is designed to spark girls' budding curiosity about the world around them. A coral reef tank, lizards and fish, and birdfeeders help to bring nature into the classroom. Hands-on projects, such as recreating the "food web" that connects different sea animals, help girls to see science in action. |
